I am a qualified and experienced German to English translator. Like all professional translators, I only translate into my native language, English. This is a fundamental tenet of translation as it ensures that the finished product reads well in its own right and is idiomatically as well as grammatically correct.
I am happy to consider translations in any field, but my specialisms are:
Legal translation, particularly in the field of intellectual property law
Including patent applications, notices of opposition, court judgements, appeals, correspondence between parties and the EPO and DPMA, licencing agreements and contracts.
Due to the diverse nature of IP law I have experience translating texts relating to a wide variety of subject matters, including medicine, chemistry, electronics, automotive engineering and telecommunications.
Including patent specifications, product descriptions, journal articles and operating manuals.
Including marketing copy and literary translations.
MA in Translation and Professional Language Skills (with Merit) from the University of Bath
BA in Germanic Studies (First Class) from the University of Sheffield
Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Bath Spa University
I am a member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting Western Regional Group.
